The Aruba Red Cross and Aruba Wine and Dine Hospitality Group have entered a long-term strategic alliance. Representatives of both organizations signed the cooperation agreement last week at the office of the Aruba-branch of the Red Cross.
The Red Cross is an international humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members, and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering. Aruba Wine and Dine is Aruba’s leading hospitality group with multiple restaurants in Aruba. The yearly contributions of Aruba Wine and Dine will support Aruba’s Red Cross main tasks, such as disaster relief, medical training, and social assistance. The agreement also includes ongoing and frequent training of all staff of the hospitality group, as well as medical support during larger events.
“As one of the leaders in the hospitality business of Aruba, we believe it’s important to give back to the local community. The work Red Cross Aruba is doing is simply amazing. Especially right now during the COVID-crisis, they are serving many people who have become dependent on charity to come by. We are very happy to have entered this cooperation as we believe that the professionalism and empathy of the Red Cross, will have an even more sustaining influence in the overall wellbeing of people in need in Aruba,” says Kevin Slangen, Managing Director of Aruba Wine and Dine.
This alliance is a result of the ‘We Care Initiative’, the overall happiness program of social leadership and charity by Aruba Wine and Dine. The heart of the initiative is the AWD Charity Foundation – a non-profit organization whose primary objectives are philanthropy and social well-being (e.g. educational or other activities serving the public interest or common good) in Aruba.
The Aruba Wine and Dine Hospitality Group is the main sponsor and in the last few years many social initiatives and programs have been supported, like as example Restaurant Week profits for Maris Stella Elderly Homes, Adopt an Addict, Holiday celebrations of the elderly (Christmas, Easter, etc .) Synchronized Swimming Club ‘The Barracudas’, COVID-relief response ‘One Happy Community’ and Disabled Golf Association Aruba.
